Liverpool made some big signings in the Jurgen Klopp era, but one potential deal never came to pass, which was probably for the best.
In the many successful years under the German, the Reds had one of the most feared front threes in Europe.
The signings of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were among the best transfers in the world, Klopp has said.

Together, the trio helped Liverpool win their first-ever Premier League title and add yet another Champions League trophy to their impressive collection.
Throughout the years, we saw the Reds try to strengthen their attack, including with a deal for Timo Werner.
Former Liverpool target Timo Werner agrees move to MLS
Werner was at RB Leipzig at the time and was posting some impressive numbers.
As per a report from Sky Sports in 2020, Klopp even spoke to the versatile forward about a move.
However, the German ended up at Chelsea instead, with Liverpool missing out on a near £50m deal.
The report explained: “The loss of matchday and broadcasting income, as well as the drop in value of commercial deals and the cancellation of lucrative pre-season tour games meant Liverpool were not in a position to spend almost £50m on a player who would not necessarily be a guaranteed starter in their first team.”
Nearly six years on, Werner’s career has stagnated, and it has been reported by Florian Plettenberg on Thursday that he’s now agreed a deal to join MLS side San Jose Earthquakes.
It comes on the back of Werner having his contract with Leipzig terminated.

At the time, some fans may have thought losing out on Werner to Chelsea was a negative.
But hindsight is a wonderful thing, and given the struggles he has had since moving to the Premier League, it actually wasn’t that big a blow.
He scored 23 goals during his time in West London before eventually moving back to Leipzig.
Werner then spent some time at Tottenham Hotspur, but his numbers were poor, finding the back of the net just three times in 41 matches.
In the current season, he has played just 14 minutes of football across three matches.
